| Two Bard Owls |
On the way to the parking lot, we noticed a couple staring up in a tree, so we got out and looked. Two bard owls - male on the top branch (they thought) and the female below. The male got anxious and flew off shortly after this picture, but the female was content to stay put.
Always a treat to find owls.

| New Cover for Tray Feeder. |
There were lots of people there on Sunday morning, so it is no surprise that we saw deer only twice. This was our first sighting. A buck lying down on the edge of woods, next to the meadow. He didn't move much while we walked by. A few yards later, looking in the opposite direction we saw five younger deer moving around, and later we found a lot of deer fur and blood on the ground. It looked more like a deer killed by humans, than the normal deer killed by coyote.
Last Saturday I bought a new cover for our tray feeder. I have had fun writing "thank you" notes and watching the squirrels trying to figure out how best to navigate onto the tray feeder. So far the squirrels haven't cracked the case, but they are relentless and it is only a matter of time before one of Darwin's finest figures out the best method for getting to the tray feeder.
I love the outdoors.
