Lent...and Leaning In...

Bishop Brian Prior
This morning I went to the Ash Wednesday service before school.  I did this as more of a political statement,  as compared with a strong feeling of religious belief.  The service was before school, which I feel is appropriate compared with having the service in the middle of the day, when our non-Christian students are forced to attend.

So, sitting in the back, just barely in chapel this morning, and wouldn't you know it, but two new ideas wandered in and sat down next to me.

Bishop Brian Prior presented the idea of looking at Lent as a time to "Be your best self".  This is a useful concept that seems to fit nicely with where I am now.  I am trying to read articles for COETAIL 1 and understand them.  I want to do better than a being a once-over-lightly student.

Later this morning the Bishop mentioned that this is a time of year to "lean in" and work on being my best self.

Good stuff.  Well done Bishop Prior.
